This is the Volvo concept truck. It aims to suggest how the future of transport may look. The truck is constructed of a steel chassis with aluminium alloy-framed, glass fibre panelled cab/body. It weighs 15 tonnes, top speed of 50 mph and range of 15 miles.

Power comes from a 148bhp high-speed gas turbine generator, driving, via a rectifier, a 126bhp (continuous) electric motor mounted in the rear axle. Energy storage comes from Varta Nickel-Metal-Hydride base mounted batteries.
