Concept 2CV

Shown here is one of Citroën's ideas for a modern 2CV. Several ideas were proposed by Citroën designers, this one was chosen for public display.

The original 2CV was a particularly economical vehicle. Although it was designed as a countryside runaround, it generally serves, to those who own one, as a comfortable, cheap vehicle ideal for urban use. Modern cars are swiftly being directed towards such purposes. As a result, a new 2CV would be in line with current market demands and like the new Beetle, would already have a fan base and history to work from.

The car, pictured here at the British Motor Show in 1998, won best concept car; perhaps through the use of inventive ideas. For example, the ingenious way that the bag on the inside of the door can be removed and used as a conventional bag.
