I started this site in about November 1998. It was originally located on free web space until summer '99 when I set it up properly. I use a Mac to produce this site; for this reason you are more likely to see it exactly as I intended if you are operating a Mac as well. The site is designed primarily for browsing with Netscape - although I've tried to avoid clashes with IE. Please let me know if something displays very badly in IE.

Graphics
The graphics on this site are all my own. The photographs are generally taken from books and magazines to whom I am grateful.
The typefaces used in the site are mainly variations of Helvetica, the staple font for designers. The graphics and buttons are a mixture of styles which I tend to borrow from magazines like Graphis, Blueprint, I.D, that sort of thing. If you like this sort of stuff, check out Third Rate.com and Artcenter.
Technical
I registered the domain 'emrichdesign.com' and bought space on a server to eliminate naff adverts and stupid URLs. I would recommend this to anyone who wants to get themselves on the net; it really isn't that expensive. I don't run any major programmes on this site. The only thing is the guestbook; this is a perl CGI script which I run from my server.
I realise that most of this information will be of interest to very few, however, if there is anything else about this site that you think I should put up here, please let me know. |
